One of the keys focus elements most needed in Southern Sudan is EDUCATION. Over 78 % of the country population is illiterate! Over 90% has no access to post primary schools and more 50 % has access to primary school education and about half percent has no access to Education at all. Through Aid and Care Education Initiative, we aim to build schools and bring basic education to most illiterate areas in Southern Sudan. Below is the work we need to do and what we have done in the past two years.
We work to eliminate children study under trees by building new shcools and repair the old schools that were destroyed during the war. Schools also face lack of qualified teachers and English Language teachers. We will work to train more teachers so that they can teach children. We encourage ESL teachers and volunteers to support this program |
We also focus on schools needs in the villages. There are schools already existed but lack of school supplies which sometime result in closing down schools. Such school supplies most needed are note books, Text books, writing tools and papers. Last year, we collected more than 12,000 note books and 7,500 text books and more 20,000 writing tools. However, we face shipping conditions-very expensive to ship them overseas. |
